Video: Dustin Campbell Eating Tuna

Dustin, sorry, but I had to share this video with everyone because I saw you eat at least twenty pounds of  tuna fish over the course of the MVP Summit.  Consider it a farewell tribute since you joined Microsoft.  The video was taken at the EMP museum in Seattle, WA on April 16th, 2008. DreamSpark - Fantastic Idea But Only The First Step

When I was in high school one of my math teachers took it upon himself to teach a few students about computer programming.  It wasn't a real class it was just something he put together during our free period.  Instead of attending study hall we'd go to this computer programming class.  Basically other students in the school called the few of us taking the class the "Star Trek" club.  Honestly I didn't watch Star Trek and never have.  It just never interested me.  I know that I just lost thousands of geek points by stating I am not a Star...

XBox With Blu-Ray, 2 Quad Processors, 2GB, HDMI, 7.1 Surround, 1080P DVD Upscaling, IPTV, Bluetooth, Cable Card, 500GB HDD, Home Server Integration and Home Automation

Now that Blu-Ray has driven the nail in the coffin of HD DVD, Microsoft is about to release the ultimate console that will take over your living room for good.  The Blu-Ray / HD DVD format war has held them back from releasing a true home media machine that compliments other products in the line up like Windows Home Server.  Many may not know it but the format war put a wrinkle in Microsoft's plans to own your living room.  This is why Microsoft chose to ship the Xbox 360 with a standard DVD player a few years ago.  Not...

Visual Studio for Windows vs XCode for Mac OS X

The other day I was playing on my aging Powerbook and thought I'd investigate writing applications on Mac OS X using XCode.  I tried several years ago but honestly after reading some documentation on Apple's web site I wasn't any better off than when I started.  Instead of going the documentation route which didn't work I thought I would try a different approach.  Today we have something we didn't have years ago that is a lot better than documentation and that is called videos.  They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words.  Well a video is worth that times...

Choose Apple In the Enterprise - Get Screwed

That is the message Apple is sending to its enterprise customers with the release of its new Leopard operating system according to reports coming in from Java developers.  Apple isn't supporting Java 6.0 on Leopard and there are tons of problems even running the IDE on previous version.  Enough to drive one Java developer away from Apple completely and others screaming when is Java 6 going to be supported. It makes you wonder what Dale Frantz (pictured left) is going to do as a CIO who switched his entire company over to Mac OS X as reported in Computer World back...

Interviewed on AG Speaks Podcast

Alfred Green who does a Podcast show called AG Speaks interviewed me a month or so ago and he finally got the Podcast posted up to his site.  I've known Alfred for several years where we first initially met at the Washtenaw Linux Users Group in the late '90's.  The interview will probably give you more information about The Elder than you'll ever want to know.  I've always found it interesting to know how people came to do what they do and the thought process that went into it.  This interview will provide you a lot of that information.  We...

Video of CodeMash Organizers Shaving Their Heads

Josh Holmes, Microsoft Architect Evangelist, and Brian Prince, MVP Architect, shaved their heads at the end of the CodeMash Conference in front of the attendees.  Both Josh and Brian were organizers of the CodeMash Conference and they vowed if there were over 500 blog posts tagged by Technorati with the word "CodeMash" they would shave their heads.  Actually that was Josh's deal with the attendees.  Brian later through his hat in the ring and said his shaving point was 600 blog entries. It got to the end of the conference and Technorati was down.  We were trying to search but the site...
