3D CSS Box Model and other CSS Links

So I've been doing a lot of playing with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) lately. I stumbled upon a really good article or two that helps makes more sense out of it a bit. First up is the 3d box model design by Jon Hicks (shown below).

mad scientistThe diagram attempts to show users how margin, padding and background all work together. Well, one good thing deserves another so another guy (Douglas) created an interactive version of it which can be found here. Pretty cool. Another great little read I found was "Why tables for layout is stupid." The title may sound a little harsh but it was a presentation given at Seybold. If you are in the business of building web sites and you haven't made the move to tableless layouts, this may help get you there.

Scaling PHP

I found a really good article which outlines some nice tips to scaling PHP. The article is written by George Schlossnagle. In his article he explains why you do not need large DB abstraction layers like PEAR and ADODB and why you should NEVER use relative paths to images. The article can be found here.
