Resharper Breaks Intellisense After Uninstall

A few weeks ago I installed Resharper trial to give it a try.   During this time I was doing some development on a brand new project so I figured it would be a good test to see how it works  / performs.   It wasn't long until I noticed some serious performance drops in Visual Studio so I turned on the Resharper feature which keeps tabs on the memory it is using in the status bar.  My small solution with a few projects was eating up about 120MB!  This week at TechEd I won a copy of CodeRush and Refactor!...

What Acropolis Is and Isn't

Ayende wrote a post about Acropolis as another executable XML language.  Then a few other people chimed in on comments about Acropolis being another example of Microsoft providing tools to turn bad developers into mediocre developers.  I think the point of Acropolis has been totally lost in this conversation so please allow me to weigh in. To start with WPF is already expressed in XML.  This has been known for awhile and we've all seen amazing results of expressing the UI declaratively.  Look at all the eye candy WPF and Silverlight has dazzled us with over the past several months...

Start of TechEd Day 5 I Can't Walk

It is the start of our last day of TechEd 2007 and I've had a rough morning getting to the convention center.  I seriously can barely walk.  With 4 days of continuously standing in lines at Disney World before TechEd and then walking miles a day at TechEd I'm immobile.  Before you start thinking I'm some kind of wuss just know that I've had feet problems for years.  I think I am at the point that I am going to have to seriously have a podiatrist look into it.  The bones on the back of my heels hurt with every step.  Literally...

TechEd Day 4

When I got to the convention center this morning I had to sit down and do some work.  Email was backing up on me left and right.  One of my team members and I found a table and got some work done.  Then it was lunch time which gets my vote for worst lunch this week. After lunch I met up with David Silverlight in the developer area where I picked up my 6th place winnings from http://community-credit.com for the month of May and my award winning plaque.  I spent the next several hours hanging out in the developer area...

TechEd Day 3

Day 3 is going to be a short post since all I did was go to the certification Study Hall.  I got hooked on being able to go through test questions so I spent all day studying for different exams.  I know, it isn't that interesting.  However, on Wednesday night we did have the influencers party at Margaritaville in Universal City Walk.  Extremely cool event with a live band, free food and drinks and the who's who's of TechEd was there.  I met some new people which is always good but we had to take a cab back to the hotel...

TechEd Day 2

It is day two of TechEd and my feet and legs are killing me.  My feet didn't get a chance to rest after the four day whirlwind tour of Disney World.  I told my wife that I was going to have to go to TechEd just so I could rest :)  Here is day two's activities. Biztalk WCF Adapter The first session I attended this morning was an overview of the WCF Adapter for Biztalk which is in the R2 release.  Don't get your hopes up just yet because it isn't available.  I was told it  wouldn't be out until 3rd quarter. ...

TechEd Day 1

I've actually been in Orlando since Thursday but today TechEd 2007 officially got underway.  I took a few personal days from work so Ellen and I could go to Disney World before TechEd started.  We hit all four theme parks, one per day.  I told her that I was going to have to go to TechEd just so I could rest!  It was tiring, but fun.  Last night we officially kicked off TechEd with Party with Palermo at the Glo Lounge.  The who's who of the developer community showed up.  Lots of people showed up, several hundred if I had to...

Cingular 8525 - New ROM, New Features, Fixes and Internet Connection Sharing

I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago how to setup the Cingular 8525 to connect to the Internet with your laptop.  After that post a new updated ROM was released by HTC which brands the phone with AT&T instead of Cingular and it also provides a lot of updates and fixes.  For example the top of the phone now properly displays Edge or 3G depending which high speed data network you are on.  It also adds support for downloading videos, music and even enables PPT (push to talk) on the phone.  I've used the PPT feature some but...

http://Correlate.Us - Launch

One of my long time geek friends (Joe Stump) launched a new web site today that has some potential to possibly fill a void a lot of us have on the Internet.  The web site is called Correlate.Us.  Here is what Joe posted on his blog about the launch: The basic idea is that you authenticate your various Web 2.0 accounts and then correlate.us goes out and aggregates that data, groups it by tags and makes it generally more browseable for everyone involved. The best part about it is that you can add friends. Once you’ve added a few...

Community Credit 6th Place for May

I joined the http://www.community-credit.com site for the month of May and I placed 6th place when things were all said and done.  My "stupid prize for smart people" was this alarm clock.  I will cherish it forever.   May was a good month for me to join since I had multiple speaking engagements scheduled and a lot of blog articles in the fire.  I am still working on my multiple part series on "Leveraging Workflow Foundation".  Part 3 will hopefully come out this week if I get time.  It is going to be tough with Tech Ed though.  Thanks to Community...
