FAQs

Q: I don’t own a boat and have enough friends I can talk into organizing a crew. Can I still go?

A: Absolutely. We figure out the boat situation as time gets closer. I (Keith) go over all the crews and help connect the right people to the right crew. Bottom line is just get your spot reserved and then we’ll “figure it out” as time draws near.

Q: Why do you leave on Monday and not on Sunday?

A: There are two reasons. One there are a lot of people that have boats to haul back home. On Sunday there is absolutely nothing open if one was to break down. We had this happen in 2010 so we changed it to always leaving on Monday. Also, Sunday is a great day on the water since a lot of other boats from all over come to the lake. Leaving on Sunday would mean we’d miss half of the weekend fun.

Q: I’m not really a fisherman, but the trip sounds fun, do you think I should go?

A: A lot of the guys that join us don’t know how to fish but they are there for the experience. There’s plenty of *mentors* on the trip that will guide you along the way. As long as you have a great attitude and willing to learn you’ll have a great experience. A lot of the *mentors* or ‘Good Ol’ Boys’ as many call them love passing on traditions. More than anything this event is about passing it onto others. You’ll learn how to cook crawfish, grill, smoke meat, fry fish, clean fish, catch fish, etc.
