In a tounge and cheek move, AMD released its newest mobile processors in 850MHz, 900MHz, 950MHz, and 1000MHz name Athlon 4. AMD hopes that by naming the processors “4” (forget 2 and 3) it will increase its market share against Intel who isn’t scheduled to release a mobile version of the Pentium 4 processor until 2002. Compaq has already adopted the Athlon 4 in several Presario notebooks and soon others will follow. The bottom line: If you have been wanting a high powered notebook then grab one of the Athlon based notebooks hitting the shelves later this summer. Read more about the release here.
Now where did I put that checkbook….
