I don’t browse the TV channels to much however in my stumbling around the set tonight I came across my new favorite TV Channel called Tech TV. If you have already heard of it then pardon me for being behind the times. It seems to be run by ZDNET (which runs everything else in tech land nowadays). If you haven’t checked it out, try and tune in, if you are in A2 then I think hit channel 67 and stay up on the latest in Geek news.

Sorry I haven’t posted anything in awhile but I decided that if I was going to get my machine working fully again I had to devote what little time I had to that project. In the process, I have got X4 working with my Voodoo and Quake 3 is now working on my new Athlon 950. Kernel test10 is also running rather nicely and playing nice with all of the other hardware in my box. I still have to setup several more things on the box but taking on thing at a time. It is good to be back in X. Now if I can just get my DVD to play in X4.

Like all other Linux geeks, I am a big fan of Slashdot. I normally don’t post news that was on Slashdot but how else will my wife know what I want for Christmas if I don’t post a cool toy I found. Let me introduce you to the Claw. It is a controller that is OS independent that allows for better playing of Quake and other first person shooter games. They aren’t available in the US but are available online for purchase. What a great stocking stuffer!

I normally don’t post work related stuff on here but I couldn’t resist this one.
A gentleman came into our store a few days ago and ordered a peice of memory for a Gateway Notebook. One of the sales guys ordered the memory and it came in today and we called him to come and pick it up. About 5:30, I answered the phone and a person asked to speak with one of our associates (who sold him the memory). He wasn’t available so he asked if I could help, I said sure. The man went on to tell me that he ordered a peice of memory for his notebook and he said it wasn’t working. I asked him to explain what he meant by “It wasn’t working” and he stated that when he bought the memory he had 64MB of memory in the notebook and that his upgrade was suppose to upgrade him to 192MB of memory. However, when he was using Word and went to save a document there wasn’t another hard drive listed in the menu! Of course at this point I was about to loose it, but maintained my composure and explained that he purchased RAM (Random Access Memory) and not a hard drive. We checked the system properties and sure enough he had 192MB of memory installed in the machine.
This raises the age old question. Should the US Government require a license to operate a Computer like they do a Car?
