New Proposed PHP Functions

I was on the Internet today talking to Rasmus, the creator of PHP and he was talking about his new book. I managed to get a few juicy nuggets out of him about the book and who it is intended for.

Time to patch that Linux kernel

There appears to be a bug in the 2.4-14 – 2.4-18pre9 Linux kernel which allows someone to compromise a Linux system. The hole is in the Netfilter package which is part of the kernel. Redhat has released a patch for its systems here. The original release about the problem can be found here

Database Shootout

Jabber, an industry standard?

It seems that Jabber is preparing to submit itself to the IETF as a standard for instant messaging and presence services. Doc Searls has an article on Linux Journal.
