These are a little late for April fools day, but none-the-less these are funny. We made these up whilst sitting around the office back in the summer. I thought I would put them out now, we’ve had them long enough. Hope you have a good laugh.

There appears to be a bug in the 2.4-14 – 2.4-18pre9 Linux kernel which allows someone to compromise a Linux system. The hole is in the Netfilter package which is part of the kernel. Redhat has released a patch for its systems here. The original release about the problem can be found here

It seems that Jabber is preparing to submit itself to the IETF as a standard for instant messaging and presence services. Doc Searls has an article on Linux Journal.
