New Processor upgrade for my birthday

Posted by Keith Elder | Posted in Computer Hardware | Posted on 19-06-2000

Ellen (my beautiful and thoughtful wife) got me a new processor for my box. I am now the proud owner of a K6-2 550MHz cpu. Just a word of advice for those folks out there about to buy a motherboard, BUY A GOOD ONE!. I bought an Asus P5a when they first came out, did massive research and it is still paying off to this day with my third processor upgrade. All I know is that Quake3 starts in like 2 seconds now. Thanks Ellen!

Debian is up and Running

Well, I finally got my box rebuilt out with Debian Linux. So far everything is working except the TV Tuner Card. If you want to see a screen shot pimped out with EFM (enlightenment’s file manager) here you go.

All dogs should be on a leash!

Ellen and I were traveling around our old stomping ground. Saturday night we were driving from Hattiesburg to Ripley when about 15 miles south of West Point, MS a big dog ran out in front of the car. We hit the dog running about 65 mph and as it turns out the dog completely screwed up my Mazda. Currently we are stuck in Ripley without transportation. Since it is Memorial Weekend, nobody will be able to look into fixing the car until Tuesday. The really really bad news is that we may have to have the engine replaced since the dog crushed through the radiator which caused it to overheat and start knocking (bad I know). When I have more information I’ll let you know.

Ellen and I decided to take a little trip back home for the Memorial weekend. We left A2 on Friday morning at 4:00 at arrived in Hburg, MS at 7:00 Friday night. Yeah, I know, what a drive. Tonight we will be heading to Ripley (ZorKa’s home town) to see the family and then leave early Monday morning coming back to A2. Next time I am flying, this is to crazy!

I can’t go fishing

I just learned that owning a boat really isn’t worth it since it costs a lot of money. Don’t buy one, I don’t recommend it unless you are wealthy!
