Evolution and Visor Handspring

I haven’t posted much news to the site lately and I apologize. I am working on some new howtos (such as this one) and some new PHP tutorials for you guys.

In my spare time I did manage to get my Handspring Visor to work with Evolution (the outlook replacement for Linux). I’ll post a full howto later on but here is the “raw” details of how to get it going.

It seems that Handspring is going to be announcing two new hand helds this coming Monday. Supposedly more power and memory are the key ingredients. Although I couldn’t find anything on their site about what they will be offering you can read more on the aritcle here. Havnig owned a Visor Deluxe for well over a year now my wishes are as follows:

  • More Memory
  • Color Screen
  • Multiple springboard module slots

By partnering with another company called Digital Paths, SlashDot.Org will be delivering its content to wireless and mobile subscribers. Slashdot is hailed as the number one site for technical gurus. Currently the site receives over 2 million unique visitors in a month.

It is coming and I say about time. Imagine that by simply being in the sun you will be charging your cell phone or PDA. A German lab has come up with just this type of technology to allow users to throw away batteries for good in mobile phones and PDAs. Not a bad idea really. The technology is way to expensive for the mass market (as always) but within a few years who knows. You can read more about the article here.
