U of M Students give benefit concert

Posted by Keith Elder | Posted in General | Posted on 20-09-2001

If you would like to hear my wife playing the piano during this tribute, you can listen to her version of Amazing Grace from her web stie. It seems the Univ. Of Mich music students are using their talents to raise money for the disaster that struck our nation last week. If you are in the Ann Arbor, MI area, you will definitely want to be on hand for this concert event. Come and listen to up and coming stars share their musical talents while also supporting the relief effort.

On Thursday, September 20, at 8:00 p.m. there will be a benefit concert held in the School of Music Britton Recital Hall in Ann Arbor, MI. This concert is given by the University of Michigan School of Music students, in association with the student chapter of the Music Teacher’s National Association.

My store was shutdown!

Posted by Keith Elder | Posted in Funny Stuff, Internet | Posted on 14-09-2001

I don’t think this story can have ANY more irony in it. It seems that after Chugadie and I created our online store yesterday it has been shutdown by Abdul Popal who works for CafePress.Com. Here is the leter that I received:

For those still brave enough to fly….

The following comes from Bryan Dotzour who recently took his wife to the Detroit Metro airport:

“I just came back from taking my wife to the airport, and I thought I’d warn anyone who is planning on flying.”

Tribute to the United States

TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.

America: The Good Neighbor. Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television Commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

“This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

Get your Geeky Bin Laden T-Shirt

Posted by Keith Elder | Posted in Funny Stuff | Posted on 13-09-2001

The only way some of us geeks know how to express our feelings over national tragedies is to speak unix-ese to each other. Stuff like “I wish somebody would pipe whoever did this to /dev/null”. In an effort to get our point accross Chugadie and I put up a couple of t-shirts and caps over HERE so the geeks of the nation have a voice.

I just thought I would mention that our intention is not to “get rich” or “make money” from the devistating tragedy.

Update!
There has been a development on this store we opened. Read this story.
