I Was Harassed and Verbally Abused By A First Grader On AOL Instant Messenger

Yesterday I was working at the computer and I got this random message from someone I didn’t recognize.  I publish my instant message and email on the Internet freely for the very reason so people can find me and contact me.  It is not unusual to have someone ping me asking for help or a friend trying to get back in touch.  I politely said hello and do I know you.  They said no they just wanted to chat.  I politely explained if we didn’t know each other I didn’t have an interest.  They said good bye and we went our separate ways.  Tonight, as a matter of fact a few minutes ago I was about to head to bed.  This same person pinged me via AIM (AOL instant messenger)  again tonight.  But this time they started throwing around four letter words and being extremely hostile.  I have no idea how old this person is but I deduced deducted by their lack of typing and spelling skills they were a first grader.  I captured the entire conversation in a screen shot.  I grayed out the first graders explicit words as to not offend anyone. Lord knows I’ve been offended enough tonight.

Here’s the conversation.  For the record my handle is in red.  The words grayed out rhyme with duck but have various spellings and combinations of duk, ducu, and duku.

I don’t even know what to say at this point except this person is an idiot and his/her parents should ground them for life.  It is ridiculous that someone feels they can hide behind a keyboard and say anything they want.  It just shows how ruthless and careless the human race can be and how far they will go if there are no boundaries in place.

Video of Me Singing Rockaroake at the MVP Summit

What better way to end the MVP Summit than to have a really cool party at the Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle, WA.

Joe Healy sent me the video he of me signing on stage during Rockaroake while I was on stage singing a little Garth Brooks, Friends in Low Places (link below).  It was a blast!  Some of you may have heard rumors about how I broke “Rockaroake” that night but really I didn’t break anything.  Here is Jim’s quote:

Seeing Keith Elder get on stage and sing karaoke (and break the process) nearly paid the price of admission for me.

The back story is right when we hit the first verse of the song Ryan Olshan jumped on stage to join in the chorus.  The only problem was he was, well…. he was a little too happy at the moment to join in.  Right behind him was Javier Lazano, his wife, Nick Parker and his wife.  As soon as everyone hit the stage the band stopped playing and everything shut down.  Basically the MC said no fun was allowed and that everyone can’t come up on stage and for everyone to get off the stage.  Ok, so maybe I broke it a little.  The band then restarted the song.  John Kellar and Jason Follas were in the back of the room dying laughing and thus John tweeted:

Very funny John!  Of course I didn’t break it.  I guess the MC did.  Anyway.  It was a blast.  Here is the video of the performance after things got going again.  Enjoy.

Dustin, sorry, but I had to share this video with everyone because I saw you eat at least twenty pounds of  tuna fish over the course of the MVP Summit.  Consider it a farewell tribute since you joined Microsoft.

The video was taken at the EMP museum in Seattle, WA on April 16th, 2008.

The Redneck Elder

Today was my four year anniversary at Quicken Loans.  Anniversary day at Quicken is always fun because typically what happens is your team leader writes up an email about your accomplishments and emails it to all of Information Technology or various teams.  It is used as a time to say thank you for all of the hard work you have done at the company.  The rest of the day you are flooded with congratulations and funny responses to fill your day.  It is one of those nice things that makes us different and it is always nice to get propped out to your teammates.

One of the guys took the time to make this commemorative photo to capture the occasion.  Oh how the Northerners I work with make me laugh.  Enjoy.

The Elder Simpsonized

Be warned, what follows is YASBP – Yet Another Stupid Blog Post

SimpsonImage Dang you Chris Woodruff for distracting my Xbox 360 playing time tonight by posting your Simpson image to your site.  While I will never be able to gain back those precious minutes of Guitar Hero I do have something to show for my time.  In the end I have a new shiny image that is the spitting image of me Simpsonized thanks to a really cool site called http://www.simpsonizeme.com

Before you head over there to generate your very own, you will need to know that you will need to find at least a 640×480 picture to upload.  The site then analyzes it and sets some defaults which you can then customize.  All I did to this one is change my pose and my shirt color.   Not bad I don’t think.
